"Bedroom Oasis" Mood Board

I can't believe it myself, but today marks the day that I created my first virtual mood board. I have a personal Pinterest board titled "Bedroom Oasis", so I thought I would put my Olioboard skills to use and create something that visualizes what my dream bedroom would look like. Along with the image, I'll share some details as to why I chose certain items. Let me know what you think!

Primary color: Blues
Secondary color: White/Gray
Accent color(s): Warm wood tones/sunset orange

Wall color:
I'm in love with the look and feeling of the beach cottage/driftwood look. I would love to take salvaged wood and replicate this look on an accent wall behind the bed.

Furniture:
I love the idea of "his and hers" dressers in different colors. I tend to be drawn to white furniture, so choosing blue and gray seems a little more daring. I like it.

I also love the little blue One Kings Lane nightstand and would place one on each side of the bed for balance and personal use. I prefer nightstands with drawers and like that the glass nob matches the blue dresser's hardware.

The silvery gray storage bench would be great for stashing blankets, or shoes. Most often beds are too high for me to comfortably sit and put my shoes on, so this bench would be a nice little luxury and would create some balance at the end of the bed since it has no footboard.

Art:
It's no secret that I'm a fan of all things nautical, so the original painting was a natural choice. I like the sunset/sunrise tones the artist used and I think the piece would really warm up the cool blues that dominate the room's color palate.

Textiles:
I think there's something so classic and romantic about white flowy curtains and bedding - especially against a patterned, upholstered headboard like the one I chose. I chose a solid rug in a hue called "hydrangea blue" rather than a pattern. Not only did the name catch my eye (hydrangeas are my favorite flower), but I think the blue creates a calm, while not competing with the other textiles in the room.

Lighting:
I picture the hanging light going directly over the bed. I'm sure the shadows created from the fixture would be completely magical against the ceiling. Like the second nightstand, I would mirror the table lamp on both sides of the best. The unexpected, artichoke texture is simply... fun!

  1. I LOVE it!!! So so pretty! All the different shades of blue are gorgeous together. And I love the idea of the driftwood accent wall. Also hydrangeas are my favorite flower too! It kills me that they don't grow as well here in Florida. Up in Minnesota everyone had huge bushes of them in their yards and I always had to fight the urge to carry scissors with me and take some while we were out on walks! :)
